I have made it known on this blog how much I love my essential oil diffuser (check it out here). Since getting it as a Christmas present in 2017, I have used it almost everyday, installing one in every room of my house and recommending one to everyone I know.
Even though they’ve become so popular in the last few years, a lot of people still don’t really understand the idea of diffusing essential oils, and are unsure of which ones to use and what their benefits are. So, in this post, I’ll be sharing my favourite essential oils to use in my diffuser depending on how I’m feeling and what I need that day.

Lavender
Lavender is my all time favourite essential oil, and the one I use most in my diffuser. It’s best known to help reduce stress and anxiety and balance the nervous system, but it also has other benefits such as helping to prevent acne, enhancing blood circulation, and helping against respiratory problems. If you have trouble sleeping, try diffusing lavender on your bedside table.

Eucalyptus
You might be familiar with eucalyptus if you’ve ever used VapoRub or Vicks sinus inhalers, as it is one of their main ingredients. It’s very strong, which helps to clear your airways if you have a cold or just a stuffy nose, so come winter time, it could be worth diffusing some around your home. It works as a pesticide and has the ability to kill fungus and mites, so you can diffuse it throughout the year to help clear the air in your home.

Tea Tree
Tea tree is a very popular oil to use as part of your skincare routine. It’s known for helping to clear up blemishes and acne, so you can find it in lots of drugstore products. Diffusing tea tree oil close to your bed or desk (or anywhere you spend a lot of time) could help to keep your skin clear, as well as cleaning the air around you. Like eucalyptus, tea tree can also help to clear up your sinuses if you’re suffering with a cold.

Sweet Orange
Sweet orange is one of the most popular essential oils. It’s been shown to reduce anxiety and stress, lift your mood and make you more happy and cheerful. It is also good for improving energy levels, so this is a perfect essential oil to diffuse in the morning when you’re getting ready for your day.

Ylang Ylang
Ylang Ylang is similar to lavender in the sense that it has a very soothing effect on the nervous system, meaning that it’s a good stress reliever. It has a sedative effect, so mixed with some lavender it can be a good way to calm down before bedtime and get a good night’s sleep.
