We all know the importance of a good morning routine – the way we start the day has a HUGE impact of what sort of day we have – productive or sluggish, healthy or unhealthy. So, one of the best new habits to form right from the off in 2019 is a healthy, productive morning routine that will set you up for a day of success, wellbeing and abundance.
In this post, I’ve mapped out an ‘ideal’ morning routine starting from 5am. It is absolutely not necessary to start your day at 5, nor to begin all these practices all at once. Instead, begin by picking out a couple of new habits to begin in 2019, and then gradually add more over the weeks. If you would like to, you can begin waking up a little earlier every week too, to optimise your morning routine further.

5am – Get out of bed, and make your bed straight away. This is an early task which boosts mood and productivity for the rest of the day.
5.10am – Make a warm/room temperature cup of water. This boosts digestion for the day. Invest in an insulating water bottle to keep the water warm for longer.
5.15am – Do half an hour of movement. Whether this is yoga, a walk or weights, the key is to get moving – this is the optimal time for exercise, and moving at this time boosts mood, productivity and wellbeing.
5.45am – Dry body brush. This will improve blood circulation and improve skin texture.
5.50am – Perform an oil massage – this improves circulation, relieves tension and removes fatigue. Sesame Oil is very warm and soothing for winter.
5.55am – Take a shower – while obviously promoting hygiene, this a great way to refresh and properly wake up for the day.
6.05am – Brush your teeth and clean your tongue – this gets rid of the coating that accumulates on your tongue during the night, making your mouth feel cleaner. Stainless steel is recommended although you can also buy copper or silver.
6.10am – Get dressed.
6.15am – Inhale essential oils – this is a great way to start the day. Invest in an oil diffuser, and pick out oils to suit your mood for the day.
6.20am – Meditate – spend some time focusing on your breath, or follow along with a guided meditation on YouTube.
6.30am – Affirmations – pick out some affirmation cards for the day or repeat affirmations such as ‘I can and I will’ to set you up for success for the day.
6.40am – Read a chapter of any book you like – it will stimulate your mind, improving memory and concentration for the day.
7am – Spend time being creative – write a journal, colour or work on a hobby or side hustle.
7.30am – Write down your Most Important Tasks for the day (no more than 3). Aim to complete them by 12pm.
7.35am – Make a beautiful, nutritious breakfast for yourself. Make it colourful, filling and wholesome to set you up until lunchtime. Enjoy making it, and use it as a time to meditate and be creative.
8am – Time to start your day!
