Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and, if you are in a relationship, you may have begun planning a romantic date with your significant other to celebrate. However, if you’re single, Valentine’s Day can actually be a very disheartening day, and just amplify any feelings of loneliness you may have.
But, the truth is, even if you’re single, you can still have a Valentine’s Day date. Heck, you can go on a date any day you like, if you are with or without a significant other. How? By dating YOURSELF.
Why wait for a relationship to start enjoying romantic getaways and date nights?! In this post, I’ll be sharing some ideas for dates that you can take yourself on that will have a huge effect on your self esteem, wellbeing, and open you up to a ton of self love!
1.Go On A Spa Break
Book yourself in for a night or two of pampering and self care. Use the time to relax and unwind through treatments, swimming, sitting in a hot tub, reading and meditating.
2. (Or Just Have An At Home Spa Night)
If you don’t want to leave the house, treat yourself to a spa night from home. Run a bath, exfoliate, moisturise, put on your best face mask (this is my fave!) and RELAX. Self care is self care, wherever you do it.
3. Take Yourself On A Dinner Date
Go out to your favourite restaurant, or that place you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t got around to yet. Treat yourself to whatever sounds good from the menu, and take your time to savour the meal.
4. Cook For Yourself
Make your favourite meal, or dig through some recipe books for inspiration for a NEW favourite dish! Use the preparation process as a form of mindfulness – don’t rush, and have fun making it look (and taste) beautiful.
5. Watch A Movie
Go to the cinema, or create an at home cinema experience. Treat yourself to popcorn and your other favourite cinema snacks, get comfortable, and lose yourself in the movie.
6. Book and Beverage
Set yourself up in a comfortable place (your home, a cafe or a bookstore) and get some reading in. Before you start, make yourself your favourite drink (or order it) for the full Hygge experience.
7. Go To A Museum
Take yourself out to a museum or gallery and immerse yourself fully in the exhibits. Take time to learn something that you previously didn’t know, and make a day of it by treating yourself to lunch afterwards.
8. Take Yourself On A Road Trip
Many people find driving a therapeutic way to focus the mind and even meditate. Pick a scenic route – it doesn’t have to be too far – and stop every now and again to admire the views.
9. Go For A Picnic
Take yourself down to the coast or to the woodland, and set up a beautifully prepared picnic, complete with a hamper and prosecco flutes. Take a pretty blanket or throw to sit on and savour the tastes, as well as being out in nature.
10. Do Nothing Day
If you just want to lie in front of a Netflix series, wrapped in a blanket, snacks in hand and still in your pyjamas…DO THAT. There is nothing wrong with doing nothing, and can often be the best way to practice self care.
So that’s it! Whatever your relationship status, have a FABULOUS Valentine’s Day filled with lots of love.
